Terms & conditions
The basis on which we quote, confirm and service bookings for retail agents and tour operators.
01Who these terms are with
This website is operated by Island Life Travel, a destination management company based in the Maldives, together with its associated offices in India, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. In these terms “we”, “us” and “Island Life” mean the Island Life entity named on your quotation, invoice or booking confirmation.
“You” means the travel agency, tour operator or other trade partner using this website or booking through us, and anyone acting on its behalf. Our services are offered to the travel trade. We do not contract directly with members of the public.
02Using this website
You may use this website to research properties and experiences and to send us enquiries. You may not scrape, republish or resell its content, use it to compile a competing database, or misrepresent your identity when contacting us.
Property descriptions, photographs, star ratings, transfer times and distances shown here are supplied by the properties themselves or by our booking systems, and are indicative. They form part of a contract only when repeated in a written quotation or confirmation from us.
03Quotations and rates
Rates are quoted per enquiry rather than published, because they change by season, board basis, market and occupancy. A quotation is valid for the period stated on it and is subject to availability at the time of confirmation.
Unless a quotation says otherwise, it is exclusive of government taxes and fees applicable at the time of travel — including goods and services tax on tourism, green tax and airport charges — and of any bank charges on payment.
Rates are offered net or commissionable according to what has been agreed with your agency. Rates and inclusions quoted for one booking do not create an entitlement to the same terms on another.
04Bookings and confirmations
A booking exists only when we issue a written confirmation. Until then, held space may be released by the property without notice. Where a property requires a deposit or full payment to hold space, the booking is confirmed subject to that payment reaching us by the stated deadline.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you give us — names as they appear in passports, dates, flight numbers, ages of children and any accessibility or dietary requirements. Corrections made after confirmation may be treated by the property as an amendment and charged accordingly.
05Payment
Payment terms, currency and accepted methods are those stated on your agency agreement, quotation or invoice. Where no separate agreement is in place, invoices are payable in full before travel.
If payment is not received by the stated deadline, we may release the booking and any held transfer seats, and the property’s cancellation terms will apply.
06Amendments and cancellations
Amendments and cancellations are governed by the terms of the property and of any transfer or excursion supplier involved, as set out in your quotation and confirmation. Maldivian resorts commonly apply longer cancellation windows over peak and festive periods, and those windows are stated at the time of quoting.
We will always ask a property to waive or reduce charges where there is a case to make, but we cannot guarantee the outcome. Any service fee we charge for handling an amendment is shown on the amended invoice.
07Transfers
Seaplane and domestic flight transfers are operated by third-party carriers to schedules they control. Seaplanes operate in daylight only, and departure times are typically confirmed by the carrier the day before travel. Timings may change for weather, tide, aircraft availability or airport congestion.
Where a change to a transfer results in an unavoidable overnight stay or a missed connection, we will arrange alternatives as quickly as we can. Any additional cost charged by the carrier, property or hotel is payable by you or your client unless the supplier accepts it.
Please allow sufficient connection time between international arrivals and onward transfers. Recommended minimums are given with each quotation.
08Your responsibilities to your clients
You are responsible for passing our booking information, inclusions and conditions to your clients accurately, and for advising them on passports, visas, health requirements and travel insurance. We strongly recommend that every traveller holds insurance covering medical treatment, evacuation, cancellation and curtailment.
Where you sell to the public, you contract with your clients in your own name. Nothing in these terms makes us a party to that contract.
09Liability
We arrange services provided by independent suppliers — properties, carriers and excursion operators. We accept liability for failing to exercise reasonable care and skill in making those arrangements. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of a supplier, or for the standard of a service delivered by them, beyond that duty.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, commission or goodwill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by events outside reasonable control — including weather, natural events, epidemic or pandemic, government action, civil unrest, strike, or the failure or withdrawal of transport services.
10Complaints
Problems are far easier to fix while your clients are still on the island. Contact your Island Life file handler as soon as an issue is raised, so that we can take it up with the property in real time.
Complaints made after travel should be sent in writing within 28 days of the departure date, with any supporting evidence, to [email protected].
11Intellectual property
The Island Life name, logo, site design and original photography and copy belong to us or our licensors. Property photography and descriptions belong to the properties or their suppliers. You may use material we provide for the purpose of selling the bookings we quote; any other use needs our written permission.
12Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives, and the courts of the Maldives have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless a signed agency agreement between us says otherwise.
We may update these terms. The version in force for a booking is the one published when the booking was confirmed. Our privacy policy and cookie policy form part of these terms.
