Privacy policy
What we collect from trade partners and their travellers, why we hold it, who sees it, and how to get it changed or removed.
01Who we are and what this covers
Island Life Travel is a Maldivian destination management company with offices in the Maldives, India, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. This policy covers personal data we handle through this website, our enquiry and booking correspondence, and the messaging channels we publish.
For data protection questions, write to [email protected] or to Island Life Travel, Lot 10487, Nirolhu Magu, Hulhumalé 23000, Maldives.
02What we collect
From trade contacts. Your name, agency, work email, telephone number, source market and the content of your enquiries and correspondence with us.
About travellers, from you. To confirm a booking we need the names of the guests as shown in their passports, their travel dates and party composition, and — where the property or carrier requires it — dates of birth, passport details, flight numbers, and any dietary, medical or accessibility needs you choose to pass on.
Automatically. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
We do not ask for card numbers through this website. Where card payment is arranged, it is handled directly by a bank or payment provider.
03Why we use it
To answer enquiries and prepare quotations; to confirm and service bookings with properties, transfer carriers and excursion operators; to raise invoices and collect payment; to meet accounting, tax and regulatory obligations; to handle complaints and insurance claims; and to keep our own records of who booked what.
Where we hold personal data about a traveller, we do so to perform the booking you have asked us to arrange, and because we have a legitimate interest in running a travel business properly. We send trade marketing — rate updates, property news — only to business contacts who expect it from us, and every message carries an unsubscribe.
05International transfers
Delivering a Maldives booking necessarily moves data across borders: to the Maldives, and between our offices in India, Malaysia and the UAE. Some of these countries are not the subject of an adequacy decision by the European Commission or the UK government. Where we transfer data originating in the EEA or UK, we do so under appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses with the recipient, or because the transfer is necessary to perform the contract with the traveller.
06How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to two years, so we can pick up a conversation where it left off. Booking and financial records are kept for as long as accounting and tax law requires, and for the period in which a claim could still be brought.
Trade marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or tell us to remove you.
07Your rights
Depending on where you or your clients are based, data protection law may give the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
Write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month. If a request concerns one of your clients, please make it through the agency that made the booking so we can verify it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.
08Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Access to booking systems and the content administration area is restricted to named staff and protected by individual credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect what we hold, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.
10Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be flagged to trade partners by email.
